About North of 50

pointe au baril logo

North of 50 is a volunteer-based, community organization, and the only formalized community organization in Pointe au Baril serving the full Pointe au Baril community as well as our members.

Established in 1983 as a Seniors Club, the organization has evolved and broadened its mandate to include service to the whole of the Pointe au Baril community while continuing to honour our historical and fundamental commitment to promoting healthy aging through educational, social, and health focused activities.

We are pleased to have garnered the respect and support of our community – both residents and businesses alike – as well as of our municipality with whom we have partnered on various programs.

Mission

North of 50’s Mission is anchored on 3 things:

  1. Promoting civic engagement
  2. Strengthening community
  3. Promoting healthy aging

Membership

Member fees support the many and varied activities and events hosted by North of 50 throughout the year.  All events promote social connection and community building.

While membership is open to those age 50+ we warmly welcome and encourage the participation of people of all ages in the planning and implementation of projects and programs.  Most of our sponsored events have not only involved youth as volunteers but have also attracted audiences of both the very young to the very elderly.

Annual membership fee is $20 per person.
