Habitat for Humanity Yearbook

Pointe au Baril
BUILT GREEN
Yearbook
A look at the accomplishments of a community working together for the common good.

This yearbook was designed to share the story of the Habitat for Humanity build project in Pointe au Baril. From it’s inception back in 2017, to the busy summer of volunteers in 2019, and beyond; thank you to everyone who made this project possible. Best wishes for the homeowners, Josh, Myesha, Lydia, and Eleanor. To view the Yearbook click on the link below:

NAME CHANGE FOR SENIORS CLUB

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

After a lengthy consultation process the Pointe au Baril Seniors Club recently voted to change it’s name to “NORTH OF 50.”

The name change conversation all started with an expressed desire by many – both members and non-members – to counter the stereotype of  the word ‘senior’ as someone who is in decline, with a more positive picture of aging.

We wanted a name that would feel more representative and inclusive of all our members and those eligible for membership, from age 50 on,  and not detract from the active and involved stage of life we are living.  Many of you told us that the word “senior” just didn’t cut it.  For some it was even a put off.

So we asked for your input and held a vote and the result is our new name: NORTH OF 50.   Next will be a new logo which is in development.

We welcome new members, age 50+, to join this very active and engaged group of men and women, all working together to support each other in various ways including strengthening our broader PaB community.

PABIA

PABIA has set up a new membership category called “Secondary Membership” hoping to encourage participation and membership among   permanent residents of PAB who don’t require off season cottage patrols.  PABIA wishes to encourage everyone who resides in the area  to participate in its activities and remind them of the benefits of its services such as navigational markers, water quality testing, shoreline cleanup, and advocating for our community with the TOA.
